FAQs

What is the origin of your name?

Kichwa or Runa Ximi is the most widely spoken indigenous language of Abyayala (the Americas). This mother tongue is listed by UNESCO as an endangered language. Our intention is to address the need for cultural and environmental preservation by activating this word and its story through our work. The word muyu in kichwa, means seed.

Are you kichwa?

Yes! We identify as being from the kichwa diaspora.

What culture are you incubating?

A culture of care<3 We believe in interdependence!

What are your values?

  1. Liberation is based on land.

  2. Imagination is a practice in freedom.

Do you have a physical location?

Not anymore. We were forced to close our storefront at the peak of Covid 19! We were located in The Village neighborhood of Jersey City. We’ve been active through pop ups since then.

Why a marketplace?

The market houses members of our community under one roof so they are easier to find and support. Not everyone can afford a website or vendor fees, but we can collectively if we share the cost! #solidarityeconomy

Where does the money go?

  1. Member fees help us sustain our operational costs.

  2. Creatives keep 50-70% of their market sales, the rest goes to our land pool.

Can anyone apply to be a vendor or member?
