Which plant relative do you feel close to in this moment/reminds you of home, your roots? Share why. Please choose one per person if you're a collective!

In this moment, I feel close to the sunflower. I wanna believe I can be more like it. To stand tall, with the thickest stem. To soak sun just to brighten the days, too. To carry several seeds in my heart. In this moment, that's the dream.

MUYU is a land-centered org. Why are the land & non-human relations important to you? How do you nurture these relationships?

These relations are why I am and can. I try to greet them and express gratitude when I can. And sing/tend to the ones in close proximity when I feel like my soul/hands carry something they might need. But I wanna be better. They continue to show me how much you can do/create when you have/feel so little.

What does being a/creative mean to you? What are some ways you express yourself creatively?

It means translating emotions felt. And speaking, with or without words, to reach. And feeling in every step, and following. I sing songs and touch clay and paint clothing, all to heal and move toward healing.

Where did your creative journey start? What inspires/drives you to do the work you do?

I remember using my creativity initially to distract from feeling in the eighth grade. I spent hours tediously designing the school yearbook. When I'm not able to find inspiration in the knowing, I find it in the beauty I'm open to seeing.

What techniques and/or practices do you use for overcoming creative blocks/help you problem solve?

I try to write down an overexplanation of what I want to express. And in writing exactly what, I'm reminded of the why and I find the how.

Name some ways you work/have worked collaboratively. What have you learned and why is collaboration important to you?

I have written with others before. And I'm learning and being reminded that there are so many ways to tell a story and so many stories. And so many different combinations of emphasized segments or emotions or whatevers. And there are so many possible outcomes when I'm on my own. Imagine what we'd find if another came and multiplied them. ooF.

How has your work changed over time? Where do you see your work in 5, 10 years?
